What Is Large Language Model (LLM)?
A large language model (LLM) is an AI model trained on very large amounts of text that can understand and generate text. It is used for tasks such as summarisation, translation, question answering and writing code.
How does it work?
LLMs work by learning which word is likely to come next in a piece of text. This lets them produce fluent text that follows a given instruction. The model processes the text it is given within a limited context window.
Where is it used?
- Document summarisation and question answering
- Customer support assistants
- Software development support
- Drafting content and translation
- Data extraction and classification
Points to watch
- It can produce fluent but wrong information (Hallucination).
- Training data has a cut-off date; current and organisation-specific knowledge needs an additional method (for example RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)).
- The context window is limited; very long inputs must be split.
- Data sent to the model is subject to the provider's terms; data security must be handled separately.
What does Huaris AI do about it?
Huaris AI selects the model that fits your needs with the Model Selection and Vendor-Independent Advisory service and integrates it securely with Product Development, Security and Compliance. See the Technologies page for model families.
